Still, calm and crystal clear waters, with just a slight amount of breeze to cut through the comforting warmth of the day. Just one of the images conjured up in my mind when I think of being led by still waters. Another one is in a totally different climate, more like typical UK weather and in a park of sorts but still irrespective of the weather, there still seems to be a peaceable sense round about me, Why? Because I’m choosing to be led by the Saviour of my soul.
Life is tough at times and we know this because we have been told that in this life we will face many troubles but we have also been promised that we are not going to go through those troubles on our own. We have been given the Holy Spirit who lives and dwells on the inside of us to comfort us and help us not only in our times of need but in every aspect of our lives.
Today, tonight or whenever you read this, I encourage you to read Psalm 23. Read it out loud to yourself and personalise it. Let the Words of that Psalm speak to your spirit and renew the parts in you that need reviving. The implanted word in your heart has power to save, so embed the words of this Psalm in your life. In Colossians we are told that the Word should dwell in our hearts and mind, this is because when our hearts and minds are filled with words that bring life, that bring peace, that bring hope, it makes it more difficult for thoughts of hopelessness and despair to creep in.
It’s not a one day and it’s all sorted affair mind you, it takes discipline, it takes commitment, it requires intentionality, a determined soul and of course the faith and belief that God will restore your soul and grant you peace of mind and heart like no other.
